Joachim Hérissé’s Écorchée (Skinned) is a fascinating stop-motion masterpiece to love and hate in the way we do our favorite nightmares. It features siamese twin sisters, the Bloated and the Flayed, patchwork characters who share a leg and a life, but vary significantly in personality. Through these characters, Hérissé animates his childhood fears in collaboration with Aline Bordereau. Their brilliant use of textile progresses a shared creative vision that gruesomely and beautifully creates a dreamscape that lingers.
